Pentagon Rating Tool. 2011-2012

The Pentagon rating tool came out of several years of writing about gin and working with people who “liked recommendations” but preferred something more abstract and less prescriptive. The tool favors rating a drink in terms of categories which have a more objective basis, so that similarities between products can be more closely estimated. This tool is a stage 1 “proof-of-concept” that will later be developed into a phone application for finding products and drinks similar to ones that a user already likes.
